BELLEVUE, WA – Louisiana has been nicknamed The Sportsman’s Paradise, and it is also home to some of the nation’s most active grassroots gun rights activists, which is why the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is honored to welcome the Louisiana Shooting Association (LSA) as a new affiliate.
Headquartered in Slidell, the LSA notes on its website that it is an organization “to which affiliated clubs look for service, competition sponsorship, instruction, and help in any field of the shooting sports.” In addition, LSA “encourages and promotes training in hunter safety, marksmanship, and junior shooting.” And, perhaps most important of all, “LSA is an organization totally committed to the promotion and protection of legitimate firearms owners’ constitutionally guaranteed right to own, bear, and use firearms for the protection of home and family, sport hunting, target shooting, and any other lawful purpose.”
Founded in 1966, LSA has grown in size, and it has affiliated clubs across the state. As CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb observed, with such a background, LSA is “a natural fit” with the Committee, and its 50-plus year mission of defending the right to keep and bear arms through networking with like-minded activists across the landscape.
“We’re delighted to have the Louisiana Shooting Association joining the CCRKBA affiliate list,” Gottlieb said, “because their philosophy is just like ours. We are devoted to protecting our Second Amendment rights, and promoting the safe use of firearms. With its rich heritage of gun ownership and hunting, the Bayou State offers the perfect environment for making these goals possible.”
On the immediate horizon, LSA is preparing for the Louisiana High Power Rifle State Championship on October 17 at the Palo Alto Rifle & Pistol Club in Donaldsonville. For LSA membership information, visit their website here.
