BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is pleased to welcome our newest affiliate organization in the Northeast, the Connecticut Citizens Defense League, one of the best grassroots groups in that part of the country.

“I’m personally delighted that CCDL has joined as an affiliate,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Headed by our old friend Holly Sullivan, we know that when things are happening in Connecticut, she’s going to be right there on the front lines. She’s got a great team, including Vice President Frank Russello, Secretary Beth Drysdale and Treasurer Bob Starr, and the organization is what we’d consider the living definition of ‘boots-on-the-ground.’”

Underscoring CCDL’s activism, the organization is currently partnering with CCRKBA’s sister organization, the Second Amendment Foundation, in a federal lawsuit challenging federal and state laws which prohibit young adults in the 18-20-year age group from purchasing and carrying handguns for personal protection. The case is known as Succow v. Bondi, filed earlier this year in U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.

CCDL’s mission statement declares the non-partisan grassroots organization to be “devoted to advocating rights affirmed by the Constitutions of the United States of America and the State of Connecticut. We are especially dedicated to protecting the unalienable right of all citizens to keep and bear arms, for the defense of both self and state, through public enlightenment and legislative action.”

“You can’t be any plainer than that,” Gottlieb observed. “This is how grassroots activism works best. We’re eager to work with CCDL at every opportunity. An organization which can operate literally behind enemy lines in a state like Connecticut definitely is the kind of organization we are proud to have as a state affiliate. CCDL knows how to  make things happen.”
