The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) invite interested print and broadcast journalists to a buffet lunch and hands-on shooting experience at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002.
The free media shoot is being held in connection with the 17th annual Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC), co-sponsored by the two national organizations, which will be held at the Sheraton-Crescent Hotel, Phoenix, Friday, Sept. 27 to Sunday, Sept. 29. Journalists are also invited to attend the GRPC which will include representatives of all the major national firearms organizations as well as leaders of state organizations from across the country. Between 400 and 500 people are expected to attend.
Journalists who register to participate in the informational media shoot will be asked to gather at the Sheraton-Crescent at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 26 for transportation to the Ben Avery Shooting Facility at the northwest corner of the intersection of Carefree Hwy. and I-17. (Those attendees who would prefer to use their own transportation will be supplied a map on request, or can get directions on-line at: www.basfaz.com).
A buffet lunch will be served at the Activities Center at BASF beginning at 11:30 a.m., followed by some firearms safety instructions, and explanation for rules regarding the hands-on shoot which will begin on the Smallbore Range at approximately 1 p.m.
In addition to the opportunity to shoot a variety of firearms under one-on-one supervision, there will be some demonstrations of some more unusual arms.
SAF and CCRKBA will begin returning invitees to the Sheraton Crescent beginning at 4 p.m. All shooting will conclude at 5 p.m.
