With all the focus on the national legislature it is very easy to forget about the state level. It is imperative that we keep the pressure on our legislators at all levels. Often state legislatures are the proving ground for gun control legislation. By keeping the gun grabbers from succeeding at the state level we can send the message that such legislation will not work on the national level. Some state legislatures are part time, and they usually meet in the first half of the year. It is paramount that we get our point across when the legislature is in session.
There are many ways to keep abreast of pending legislation. Most state legislatures have web sites where all pertinent information can be found, including the Senator and Representative’s addresses. If that is not an option, then write a letter to your state legislator requesting information on all pending legislation involving firearms. Once there is a bill introduced regarding firearms, follow the same letter writing tips detailed in last months Point Blank.
