CCRKBA HONORS ARIZONA CITIZENS DEFENSE LEAGUE WITH GRASSROOTS GROUP AWARD
BELLEVUE, WA – For the fourth time in its 21-year history, the Arizona Citizens Defense League (AZCDL) was recognized as this year’s Grassroots Organization of the Year by the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
Formally organized in 2005, the AZCDL has become a powerhouse in the Grand Canyon State, and will undoubtedly have its work cut out in the months and years ahead. Founding President Dave Kopp worked hard to bring the organization to its present status, and after his passing in August 2022, the organization continued to work for the rights of Arizona gun owners.
This grassroots organization has come far in two decades, and its record of accomplishments cannot be overstated. It has been especially important with a unfriendly state administration, but nothing seems to slow this group down.
Accepting on behalf of the organization was AZCDL Vice President Cheryl Todd, who told the audience at the annual Gun Rights Policy Conference, “It is the culmination of just tireless hours of work.”
The AZCDL has been honored in the past for its grassroots activism, and each time, the awards are well-deserved, according to CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. The AZCDL also won the Grassroots Organization award in 2018, 2010, and 2006, during its fledgling year, which serves as a testament to their devotion to the Second Amendment. In addition, AZCDL Treasurer Frederick Dahnke has twice been honored with the Grassroots Activist of the Year award from CCRKBA.
“I’m a parti-time Arizona resident,” Gottlieb acknowledged during the awards ceremony, “so I get to see firsthand what they do there and they’ve done a magnificent, unbelievable job for gun owners in the state of Arizona. My heart goes out to all of you doing it.”
